About
Annual Wheat Communicators Workshop
The participants were communications professionals from state wheat commissions and associations, gathered for their annual communicators workshop. Tasked with managing external communications, many of these communicators operate as part of small, multitasking teams juggling a wide range of responsibilities.
The Challenge
State wheat commission communication teams are typically composed of one to three people, each wearing many hats and executing under tight budgets. This structure can make it difficult to stay organized and efficient, leading to missed deadlines, scattered projects, and a constant struggle to keep communication efforts aligned.
The Solution
McCracken’s workshop provided attendees with tools to assess their work styles, align communication and project management systems with their goals, and draft clear, streamlined workflows that fit their personal and organizational needs.
Implementation
Through an interactive session, attendees learned project management basics, identified their personal work styles, evaluated tools like Asana and Basecamp, and engaged in system-building exercises. They left with ready-to-use templates for tasks such as content planning and real examples of workflows in action to help them visualize how to implement systems tailored to their needs.
Results
- Participants gained a structured approach to managing their communications workload
- Left with custom workflows tailored to their team’s needs
- Built confidence in developing and maintaining effective project management systems
- Received tangible templates ready for them to implement in their organizations
